My Story
Vernell St. Prix is a Licensed Associate Counselor (LAC) in New Jersey and a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor (LAPC) in Pennsylvania. She earned her Master of Arts in Clinical and Counseling Psychology from William Paterson University and also holds a Master of Arts in Forensic Psychology, a foundation that has given her a nuanced understanding of how people navigate difficult circumstances and the systems that shape them.
Vernell has spent her career working across a wide range of clinical settings, including forensic, acute psychiatric, and oncology. She has advanced training working with justice-involved individuals and those diagnosed with cancer. Vernell specializes in supporting adults as they navigate anxiety, depression, chronic illness, and life's difficult challenges and transitions.
Vernell draws on evidence-based modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Meaning-Centered Psychotherapy (MCP), and mindfulness-based techniques to help clients gain insight, build resilience, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and fulfilling. She approaches each person with warmth and empathy, using a holistic, collaborative, and person-centered approach.
Vernell believes that culture and identity are central to who we are and how we experience the world. As a second generation West Indian American, she brings a culturally responsive lens to her work and is committed to honoring each client's unique background and intersecting identities. Vernell is committed to creating a safe, non-judgmental space where clients feel truly heard and supported in finding their path toward healing.
