Our psychotherapy center established a non-profit organization to ensure that quality mental health care and education are accessible to individuals and families, regardless of their financial circumstances. By removing barriers to care, we aim to foster healing, resilience, and empowerment within underserved communities.

Pro Bono Therapy Services

Counseling Intern Program
In order to serve clients who are not able to access commercial insurance due to financial hardship, documentation status, or other circumstances, we have created an avenue for trauma informed outpatient care through Safe Therapy's Counseling Intern Program. Master's level counseling students are trained in the most up-to-date modalities of trauma treatment and provided with close supervision and support throughout their educational journey. Access to trauma informed care is increased both through two pathways: to individual clients who work with our interns as well as by expanding the network of providers who are well versed in trauma treatment as they enter the field of counseling.
Community Education Workshops

Community Education Workshops
Safe Therapy conducts education workshops for both community members and community service providers. Workshops range from trauma education to mindfulness tools, always with a focus on how trauma impacts the brain and body as well as how to notice and respond appropriately to a trauma response. Part of our mission with education workshops is also to destigmatize mental health and promote the message that "we all have a story" which informs the way we live and love in the world.
If you are interested in more information on our workshops available or to make a request to tailor a specific workshop to your organization's needs, please email our Clinical Director at mary.kindig@safe-therapy.org
Research

ISP Research
Safe Therapy is the first outpatient organization globally to be trained in Immediate Stabilization Procedure (ISP), a psychological first aid protocol which has been proven effective at reducing Acute Stress Disorder and later development of Post-traumatic Stress Disorder following man-made and natural disasters such as hurricanes, tsunamis, terrorist attacks, and war zones. Safe Therapy is currently engaged in a research project aimed at bringing this valuable technique to the outpatient setting in order to regulate clients who become emotionally activated or "triggered" during therapy sessions so that they can not only re-enter and continue the therapy session, but reprocess rather than relive the trauma as in EMDR.
