My Story
Nicholas Diaz is a Licensed Professional Counselor and National Certified Counselor with a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Caldwell University. Prior to his current position, Nick worked in multiple levels of care, including inpatient, PHP/IOP, crisis services, outpatient services, and school settings. He has over five years of experience working with children, adolescents, and young adults and describes himself as someone who has a deep passion for and desire to aid individuals in reaching their goals and developing as people.
Through his professional journey, Nick has gained significant experience working with depression, anxiety, gender identity issues, substance use, stress and trauma-related concerns, and crisis interventions. He works with each client from a Trauma-Informed method of care, understanding that past experiences may shape an individual’s ability to cope with emotional pain. In doing so, he treats every client as an individual with their own past experiences, values, beliefs, and perspectives.
He also utilizes various other approaches, including Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other trauma-informed approaches.
Throughout his clinical experiences, Nick has been consistently determined to help others make sense of their life experiences and help them grow. He is passionate about helping individuals reach their full potential and aiding families in supporting their loved ones. Nick’s main goal in counseling is to always provide a safe, non-judgemental, and attentive environment where clients are able to be authentic and vulnerable in order to aid in their recovery. Nicholas truly believes that the core of recovery begins at the relational and safety levels of interaction between counselor and client.
