My Story

Ruth Kang is a graduate student in the Clinical Mental Health Counseling program at Messiah University, where she is completing her master’s degree in counseling. She earned her bachelor's degree in Social and Behavioral Sciences from Seton Hall University.

Ruth takes an eclectic, client-centered approach to counseling, primarily drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Gestalt therapy, and person-centered therapy. She also incorporates strengths-based and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) principles to tailor therapy to each client’s unique needs. As an Asian American clinician, Ruth values the role that culture and identity play in shaping each person’s experiences and perspectives and strives to provide culturally responsive and affirming care.

Ruth aims to create a warm, collaborative, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel supported, understood, and empowered throughout the counseling process. She believes that meaningful change begins with feeling heard and understood and is committed to working alongside each client as they navigate their unique journey toward growth and greater well-being.
