Mikayla Offutt
Intern
My Story
Mikayla is currently a graduate student pursuing her Master’s degree in Applied Psychology at Rutgers University. She currently holds two Bachelor's degrees, Psychology and Sociology, from Shepherd University. Mikayla holds a goal of building a career that integrates clinical practice and research. She is particularly interested in how evidence-based approaches can be continually refined through real-world insights and how research can better reflect the diverse needs of clients and communities.
As an intern, Mikayla is committed to both the art and science of mental health care. I bring a deep curiosity to my clinical work, viewing each therapeutic relationship not only as a space for healing and connection but also as an opportunity to better understand the nuanced, lived experiences that shape human behavior and resilience.
Working under supervision, she draws from emerging psychological theories and evidence-based frameworks while maintaining a strong focus on empathy, collaboration, and client agency. Her long-term vision is to contribute to research that bridges the gap between data and lived experience, bringing greater depth, equity, and innovation to mental health care
